“Nun’s fart” biscuit with ice cream: the house speciality

They might sound rude, but ‘pets de monja’ are small round biscuits typical of Catalonia. They were born in Barcelona and made it all the way to Mexico, where the locals reinterpreted the original recipe using chocolate. At Baboia we have also put our own twist on this classic: two large biscuits with ice cream in the middle. No cone or bowl… an ice cream sandwich!

Did you know...

The name of this dessert has nothing to do with passing wind: its inventor was an Italian pastry chef from Barcelona who called it ‘petto di monaca’, nun’s breast, in reference to its breast-like shape, and which in time evolved into the name ‘pets de monja’.
