Vilafranca del Penedès catalmond: I do!

This dry sweet is typical of Vilafranca del Penedès and is made with caramelised toasted almonds, which are coated with a paste made from almonds, hazelnuts and milk; they are then covered again with cocoa powder and refined sugar. The most popular ones are made with Marcona almonds and covered with a nut praline. A Catalan wedding tradition involves couples exchanging a bag of these almonds, and some claim that they have aphrodisiac powers… Why not continue the tradition with our ice cream version? Casa Cudié, founded in 1946, invented catalmond bonbons, called catanias. They are now one of the typical sweets of Vilafranca del Penedès and you can also buy them at Baboia!
